Exploding Kittensis a kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players take turns drawing cards until someone draws an exploding kitten and loses the game. The deck is made up of cards that let you avoid exploding by peeking at cards before you draw, forcing your opponent to draw multiple cards, or shuffling the deck.
Make your friend explode by draw the last exploding kitten and lose the game.
Remove all the Exploding Kittens and Defuse cards from the deck. Shuffle the remaining deck and deal 4 cards and 1 Defuse card facing down to each player.
Insert one less Exploding Kittens than the number of player back into the deck. Remove any extra Exploding Kittens from the game.
Insert the extra Defuse cards back in the deck.
Shuffle the deck, and put it face down in the middle of the table. This is your Draw Pile. Pick a player to go first.
Play the game by putting the deck face down and taking turns drawing cards off the top until someone draws an Exploding Kitten
Play a card from your hand by placing it face up on top of the Discard Pile, and following the instructions on the card. Or play no cards at all; that's cool too.
After you follow the instructions on a card or play a Pair, you can play more cards. You can play as many cards as you'd like.
End your turn by drawing a card from the top of the Draw Pile into your hand and hoping it's not an Exploding Kitten.
Play continues clockwise around the table.
Put the Defuse back in the big deck. 2 Players = 2 Defuser added
Know what the cards mean as you draw them: Exploding Kitten: Eliminates you immediately unless you use a defuse card. You may put the Exploding Kitten anywhere in the deck after you use a Defuse card.
Favor: Player picks any opponent to give them a card of the opponent's choice.
Nope: Used any time during the game to stop any action except against an Exploding Kitten or a Defuse card. Totally possible to "nope" a "nope".
Attack: Forces the next player to go twice, and you don't need to draw a card at the end of your turn.
"Double slap" and "Triple slap": Forces anyone playing to take two or three turns in a row.
Skip: Skip your turn without drawing a card.
Shuffle: Shuffle the deck.
"See the Future": See the next three cards in the deck.
"Alter the Future": Rearrange the next three cards in the deck.
"Draw from the Bottom": End your turn by drawing from the bottom of the deck instead of the top.
Cat: Aren't useful by themselves but can be used in Special Combos or Pairs.
"Feral Cat": Use the card as any cat card.
Play pairs/special combos: Doubles (Two of a Kind) of the same card that has no instructions on it you can play them, allowing you to draw a random card from your opponent of choice. Triples (Three of a Kind) of a card with no instructions you get to ask any opponent for any card. If they do not have the card you ask for you get nothing. If they do you get to keep that card. Five different cat cards, then dive into the discard pile and grab any card you want. In Advanced Play, any two or three cards with matching icons in their corners can be played as pairs, rather than only instruction-less cards. And if you have five cards with different icons in the corners (with or without instructions) then you can look through the Discard Pile and grab any card you want.
